2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser Convertible.
This is a great idea, but it might just be too little too late...

It starts at $20 000, and comes standard with the 180hp turbo engine. Which is great! And it has room for 4 adults, a large truck and a folding rear seat.

There's nothing new inside, except the door design. And finally, you can order a light colored interior.

2005 Chrysler 300.
There it is in the flesh for the 1st time. The all new 2005 300 is the opposite of the current car. It look heavy, tall, and it is rear wheel drive. It uses some Mercedes parts, including the transmission.

But the engines are Chrysler. The current 3.5 V6, and a new 5.7 V8! The proportions will be similar to the Dodge version.

That design doesn't look like it's going to attract anyone under 60... I can't see this car being attractive to people looking at BMWs, Acuras or Infinitis. That looks like what somebody's dad would drive.

It also seems like a caricature of the classic American car. Almost has a 70's feel to it. But that's not new. It's what Germans have been doing with the foreign car companies they own. Take the Rover 75 and the Mini Cooper. Cool cars, but they look like caricatures of their ancestors.

It is even more obvious with the new Rolls Royce. These cars look like what outsiders think they should look like.

This new Chrysler looks like what Germans think an American car should look like. It's not bad. Just not new, and not retro either...
